How to Use the Hours of Work & Rest Feature

Feature 3: Hours of Work and Rest Overview The Hours of Work and Rest feature ensures that crew members remain compliant with MLC 2006 regulations by tracking working hours and rest periods.

Key Function

  • Logs daily work and rest hours for each crew member.

  • Automatically determines compliance with MLC 2006.

  • Flags any non-compliant days for corrective action.

Step-by-Step Guides

  1. Go to "Hours of Work and Rest" in the ISM Module.

  2. Select the month and year you are working with

  3. Select the User

  4. Make sure that user has a hire date entered otherwise you wont be able to make edits. To add a hire date go to User settings > Employment > hire date

  5. Enter daily working hours for each crew member.

  6. You can create templates by clicking on the template tab at the top right hand side.

  7. Click on save.

  8. Once you have completed your hours of work and rest for the month click on the 'sign off' tab at the top right. Enter your name and add your signature then save.

  9. The captain or responsible person will then come and do the same at the end of the month for each user.

  10. Review compliance status – the system will indicate if a day is non-compliant with a red cross. If you are not compliant add a comment as to why by clicking on the 'add comment' tab

  11. Make adjustments to schedules if necessary.

  12. Generate compliance reports for audits.

  • Q: What happens if a crew member exceeds allowed working hours? A: The system will flag the entry as non-compliant, and an adjustment will be required.

  • Q: Can I generate monthly compliance reports? A: Yes, detailed reports can be generated for management review and audits.

  • Q: I am trying to enter my hours of work and it is not allowing me to? A: this is probably because you havnt entered your hire date. You can check this by looking next to the user tab > Hire date. To Do add this if it isn't there > go to User settings > employment.
